Town Tree Warden

Don Tobi has been Underhill's Tree Warden since 2017. He has both a Bachelors and Masters of Science degree from the University of Vermont in Plant and Soil Science, specializing in forestry and forest health. He worked for 29 years at UVM in the Forest Pathology Lab and then at the Entomology Research Lab, specializing in forest entomology. He has worked on projects aimed at invasive species such as the Emerald Ash Borer and the Asian Longhorned Beetle. Don was also the caretaker and manager of the UVM Jericho Research Forest.

Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) in Underhill

The Emerald Ash Borer is now present in the Town of Underhill according to the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation. The Town Tree Warden has the authority to authorize the removal of trees that are infested with or infected by, or at risk to become infested with or infected by, a tree pest and are located in an infestation area designated by the Agency of Agriculture, Foods and Markets and the Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation.
